“Quality over Quantity”: The Hardhat, Milo, and Our Unwavering Commitment

I started TCB Contractors in 2023 fueled by 15 years of asbestos removal experience. But the heart of the business, the embodiment of our mission, arrived a year later in the form of Milo – a Staffy-Sharpei mix with wisdom etched into every wrinkle. It was Milo and our logo, the emblem of our values, that truly defined what TCB Contractors stands for.

Building on Experience

After serving my time stripping asbestos, I felt Auckland needed a company built on honesty, safety, and above all, exceptional work. That's why I started TCB Contractors. I always said: "If it’s worth doing, it's worth doing properly." But there was something lacking, a personality if you will.

Milo's Arrival: Our Unofficial Foreperson

In 2024, the pieces fell into place when my friend asked me to take in Milo, a Staffy-Sharpei mix with a face that communicated more than most people I know. I wasn’t sure how a dog would fit into an asbestos removal business, but I quickly learned that she was exactly what TCB Contractors needed.

The Hardhat Logo: More Than Just an Image

Our hardhat logo embodies our commitment to safety. I was driving home one evening, thinking about the company, when I just saw a hard hat and those wrinkly features of Milo looking out from under. After a quick sketch, I knew I had captured the core of my business! The design isn't complete, however, without the core of our value "Quality over Quantity".

Quality over Quantity: Our Promise Embodied

"Quality over Quantity" isn't just a catchy phrase; it's our guiding principle. In an industry where shortcuts can be fatal, we refuse to compromise. Milo, with her unwavering gaze and discerning sniffs, helps us stay true to that commitment.

Our methodology reflects this principle, including:

* 15 years of industry experience.

* Stringent employee safety.

* The TCB promise - Safe, Reliable, Local.

The Day it all Came Together

It was on a deck removal, where we put all these values into practice.

"You’re slower than the last guys!" I overheard the homeowner say to my worker.

The homeowner approached me soon after and told me exactly that. I gave him the 15-year experience speech, the safe workers speech, and quality first over quantity, and pointed him to the logo. This was when I knew.

The TCB Way

From our first consultation to the final inspection, we prioritize accuracy, transparency, and peace of mind.

- Thorough assessment: We meticulously inspect every area.

- Safe remediation: We adhere to the highest safety standards.

- Clear communication: We keep you informed every step.

Milo’s Endorsement

So what does Milo actually do in the field? Here are some ways she makes our work better.

- Enforces break times: Milo keeps the team morale up

- Quality checker: A keen sniffer for materials she shouldn't.

- Customer Relations: Customers love Milo's face and what she means

It All Starts with a Decision to Care

What I learned from building TCB is that to do something with a standard of excellence, you need a standard of care. And although a dog can't perform all the duties of asbestos handling, the heart and ethics of caring for people and the community always come first.

The Importance of Asbestos Removal: Ensuring a Healthy Home

Introduction:

Discover the significance of asbestos removal in this informative blog post.

Once a popular building material due to its fire-resistant and durable properties, asbestos is now recognised as a serious health hazard. We will explore the importance of removing asbestos from your home and the potential risks associated with its presence.

1. Understanding Asbestos: Asbestos is a natural mineral that was commonly used in construction materials until the late 1980s. It can be found in insulation, roofing materials, floor tiles, and pipes. Disturbing or damaging these materials releases tiny asbestos fibers into the air, posing health risks.

2. Health Risks: Exposure to asbestos can lead to severe health problems, including:

- Asbestosis: A chronic lung disease causing scarring and breathing difficulties.

- Mesothelioma: An aggressive form of cancer affecting the lining of the lungs, abdomen, or heart.

- Lung Cancer: Asbestos exposure increases the risk, particularly in smokers.

3. Potential Sources of Asbestos: Common areas where asbestos may be found include:

- Insulation around pipes, boilers, and ducts.

- Roofing and siding materials.

- Floor tiles and adhesives.

- Popcorn ceilings and textured walls.

4. DIY vs. Professional Removal: Hiring a licensed asbestos removal professional is recommended. They have the expertise, experience, and equipment to handle asbestos safely. DIY removal can lead to contamination and higher exposure risks.

5. Benefits of Asbestos Removal: Removing asbestos from your home offers several benefits, such as:

- Improved Indoor Air Quality: Removal eliminates the risk of inhaling harmful fibers, leading to cleaner and healthier air.

- Peace of Mind: Knowing your home is asbestos-free provides peace of mind for you and your family.

- Increased Property Value: Asbestos-free homes are more attractive to buyers and can increase property value.

6. Asbestos Testing: If you suspect asbestos in your home, conduct asbestos testing. A professional inspector can collect samples for analysis, determining if asbestos is present and guiding the necessary removal steps.

Conclusion:

In conclusion, asbestos removal is crucial for a healthy home environment. The health risks associated with asbestos exposure far outweigh any inconvenience or cost involved in the removal process. By hiring professionals and taking proactive steps to identify and remove asbestos, you prioritize the well-being of yourself and your loved ones. Remember, prevention is key when it comes to asbestos-related health issues.

Take action today and ensure your home is asbestos-free, promoting a safer and healthier future!
